  Alcohol & Drug Facts
   

On this site, the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information gives you detailed information about specific drugs and what they do to your body. Many of their summaries include voice-overs, so you can listen to them if you put speakers on your computers. The site also has information specific to certain audiences, like African-Americans, Latinos, teens and women. Some of the information is in Spanish.

Check out this site for special resources for kids/teens, parents, and for breaking news. In the Teen section, there are questions and answers and stories from kids who are getting treatment. In the Drug Resource section, you can see pictures of different kinds of drugs and learn about how they affect people's bodies and lives. Some of the information is in Spanish.

CSAT stands for the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment Substance Abuse. It is run by our federal government and operates a HelpLine. Call these numbers for help. All of them are free calls.

  Alcoholics Anonymous
    AA helps men and women who have a problem with alcohol by providing them ith a supportive, positive network of friends. There are local AA groups all over the city. You can also call 212-870-3400.
     
  Al-Anon/AlAteen
    These support groups provide the family members (adults and kids) of alcoholics with help understanding and dealing with problems of alcohol abuse. You can also call 888-4Al-ANON/888-425-2666 (Toll-Free).
     
  Substance Abuse Treatment Facility Locator
    When you type in your city and zip code on this website, it will pull up a list of places that you can go in your neighborhood to get help with alcohol and drug problems.
     
  Talk with your Kids
    Talk with your kids This site can help you talk with your kids about tough issues, including drugs and alcohol. It has booklets and very good tips in both Spanish and English.
