Help Desk Associate

Job Description: Working as a CFY Help Desk Associate is a very rewarding and demanding part-time job. Associates provide technical support to CFY families and teachers over the telephone. No previous technical experience is necessary. Prior to answering calls, Associates receive two weeks of extensive training. That training includes basic DOS, dialup networking, Windows 98 configurations, customer service skills, building a computer from scratch and instruction in the popular help desk software, Remedy. Please note that this an Entry Level position and the rate of pay is $6-$7/hr based on experience.

  Junior Web Design Intern

Computers for Youth (www.cfy.org) is recruiting two Junior Web Design Interns for the summer of 2003. Junior interns will be part of a team that develops content for, builds, maintains, and evaluates the Community Corner website (www.communitycorner.org). This position is part-time (10 hours per week), temporary (July 8 - August 15) and located at CFY's mid-town Manhattan office. CFY will provide Metro Cards for transportation to and from the office AND a certificate valued at approximately $300 upon successful completion of the program.

Job Description: : CFY's Junior Web Design Inetrn will work with CFY staff and a team of interns to:

1. Be an important part of a real web design and production team.

2.

Maintain the website by checking links and keeping them up to-date;
3. Conduct Internet research;
4. Write and/or illustrate web articles and web comic strips; and
5. Build basic web pages using Dreamweaver.
 
Job Requirements:
Graduation from 8th grade by July 2003.
Experience with computers and the Internet: Basic keyboarding/typing skills are required.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Good work habits: Reliable, on-time, motivated, willing to work.
Good writing skills and attention to detail.
Artistic ability is a plus!

Senior Web Development Intern

Computers for Youth (www.cfy.org) is seeking to hire a mature and creative individual to fill the position of Senior Web Development Intern. This position is part-time (10-15 hours per week), temporary (3-12 months) and located at CFY's mid-town Manhattan office. The rate of pay for the position is $8.50-$10.00/hour dependent upon experience.

Organizational Description: Computers for Youth (CFY) is a NYC-based non-profit organization that places computers in the homes of underserved children and families and provides a range of services to help them use the technology to improve their quality of life and enhance learning opportunities in their homes.

Job Description: CFY's Senior Web Development Intern will work with CFY staff and a team of interns to:

1. Develop content, build and maintain pages on the Community Corner website (www.communitycorner.org).

2.

Help create other CFY media projects including an on-line newsletter and promotional.
3. Supervise Junior Interns (high school and middle school students).
 

This job is ideal for a mature college student, recent graduate or individual changing careers who has interest in and some experience designing web pages, who enjoys working with others, and who is committed to making the world a better place. Because there is a leadership component to the position (supervising younger students), candidates must be very responsible and exhibit positive attitudes.
Job Requirements:
College degree or some college experience.
Good work habits: Punctuality, consistency, and commitment to excellence.
Computer experience: Proficiency with MS Word and Macromedia DreamWeaver or html is required.
Good writing skills, attention to detail and ability to be thorough.
Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) is a plus.
Good interpersonal skills: Some management experience preferred.
Interest in education, computing, the Internet, and public service.
Must work well independently.
