This is the official site of the NYC Board of Education. It contains a schedule for all the tests being given in the elementary and middle schools in the city.

This website, from the Natl. Center for Learning Disabilities, lists some very clear tips about how you can improve your study habits. It includes things like organizing materials and space, studying with other people, and using time well. The site also has general tips for parents to promote good study and work habits in their children and a page specifically about how to help children become better readers.

Some of the topics covered on this site include: Preparing to study; How to listen better; PQR--A reading strategy; Taking notes in class; and Using index cards effectively. All things that can help you become a better student.

     
  Achieve Success! in Math
    This page lists a number of great strategies to help you become successful in mathematics--a subject that's hard for a lot of us. It includes information on active vs. passive studying and a 4-step problem solving process.
     
  Virginia Tech Study Skills Self-Help
    This set of guides is best for the older students-high school or college. It covers topics such as How to Read a Difficult Book, Remembering, Note Taking, Procrastination, and Stress Management. It also has some checklists so you can see how you’re doing.
     
  Department of Education Tips for Parents
    The U.S. Dept. of Education runs this site. It has links to a number of on-line brochures for parents on things like helping your children do better taking tests, helping your child write better, and helping your child learn geography.
     
  How to Take Multiple Choice Tests
    This site contains some information on how to improve your scores on multiple-choice tests when you don’t actually know the answers to questions. These strategies are no substitute for really learning the material! But they can help when you’re in a bind. Also, the site is from Canada, so many of the examples are about that country.
