Hi Everybody. My name is "Ramya", which is a Sanskrit word for beauty!

I am one of the Summer 2003 Senior Interns at CFY. I am 21 yrs old, left handed, a very spontaneous and adventurous Archer (Sagittarius). I was born in India and consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to and live in:

  1. Sohar, The Sultanate of Oman
  2. Kowloon,Hong Kong
  3. Melbourne, Australia and
  4. New York, United States
I have a younger sister, Rashmi who is 17 and spoilt too much by my parents. Since I have moved a lot in my life, my sister and I are best friends :0) I am a senior undergraduate student of Computer Science. I came to New York in June 2002,on a study abroad program at Polytechnic University, Brooklyn.
At University I have learned:
  1. Programming in languages such as Java, Visual Basic, C and C++
  2. Database Management - MS Access, Oracle, SQL
  3. Web Development - HTML, JavaScript, ASP, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator etc.
  4. Management Courses - Software Project Management, Human Computer Interface etc.etc.
I like the multicultural and diversity in New York so much that I decided to take a year off from University!!! At present, I have been working at Computers For Youth since May 2003.

I have also interned at Manhattan Neighborhood Network's Youth Channel and Paper Tiger Television,
where I learned to make documentaries - use the camera, linear editing, peer-training skills and interview skills etc.

I have a wide range of interests: Some of things I've tried in the past are Swimming, Bharat Natyam & Carnatic Music - Indian Classic Dance & Music, Playing Tennis, Meditating - Yoga/Tai Chi, Pencil Sketching, Knitting, Cooking, Snorkeling, Horse-Back riding, Trekking etc.

Some of my regular leisure activities are watching/analyzing movies, TV, listening to RnB, trying out different cuisines Hindi Music, Playing 'Antakshari' - Indian Song Linking Game, Playing Chess, Building websites chatting on the net and going out dancing

In future, I'd like to work in the field of Broadcast Media - Television or Films, travel to Europe and Africa and learn some foreign languages - starting with Spanish.
